SEO Hero Tip: Use Bing Places for Local Search SEO
As a SEO Hero, I often help clients get found locally online. I always recommend using Google My Business to get your business listed online. You can choose to show your business address or just the general area if you serve customers at their locations or are an in-home online business.
While Google is the most widely used search engine, a big part of the searches online also use Bing & Yahoo. So, it's important to also submit your website to Bing Places to get into their map and search results. Most of the time, Bing will mail a postcard to your physical address so that you can verify your business listing, see above screenshot of my business listing before being verified. If you already have an account, you can visit your Bing Dashboard here:
Once you setup and verify your listing, make sure to also add images to your business Bing listing, as well as contact information, hours, categories, and specialties. Add links to your social media pages, and fill out as much as you can to create a complete, in-depth Bing listing.
